Judge Upholds 'Fly-In' Participant's Deportation

Central District Court Judge Avraham Ya'akov denied, on Thursday, an appeal by Angelica Seyfrid, a German participant in the Friday fly-in dempnstration by Arab sympathizers, against her deportation. In his ruling, the judge said the state had wide discretion as to who it lets in, subject to supervision by the courts.

In response to claims by Seyfrid's attorney, the judge said the Interior Ministry could rely on intelligence reports on the group in which she came, which were born out by the group's behavior at the airport. In Seyfrid's specific case, the judge noted that the reason cited on the appeal was different from that presented during a preliminary inquiry at Ben-Gurion Airport, when she refused to cooperate, and ruled that this behavior indicated that refusal to permit her entry to Israel was reasonable.
