A source in the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon said Wednesday night that Washington has not taken sides on the issue of Lebanon's maritime border with Israel. In an interview with the Lebanese Daily Star newspaper, a spokesperson for the embassy said that “We understand that both Israel and Lebanon have submitted different renderings of the maritime borders. The U.S. has not endorsed any version of this line.”

The spokesperson was responding to a report in Ha'aretz that the U.S. was endorsing Israel's version of the border line.
