In preparation for the international “fly-in” planned by European anarchists at Ben Gurion Airport Thursday night and Friday, Israel has updated and dispatched its “no-fly” list to international carriers. According to international travel rules, airlines are not supposed to board passengers who are not authorized to enter a country where s/he cannot enter because of passport, visa, or other issues. The Transport Ministry thus hopes to avoid a situation where the anarchists will be deported, attempting to ensure that they do not enter the country at all, officials said.
Speaking Thursday, Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov said that “we should try to maintain our routine at Ben Gurion Airport. We will welcome tourists and visitors in the most respectable manner possible, delivering the message that Israel is a safe, progressive and attractive destination. We will handle the issue of the pro-Palestinian activists professionally and responsibly, with security forces handling the problem.”
