Hundreds of Israelis are expected to participate in protests on Thursday night and Friday outside supermarkets over the high price of cottage cheese and other dairy products. According to organizers of the protest, even with the reduction of prices for cottage cheese by Tnuva announced at the beginning of the week, prices for the product were still nearly double what they were in much of Europe.

Protests are to be held in a number of towns, including Rosh Ha'ayin, Haifa, Jerusalem, Be'ersheva, Ramle, Hod Hasharon, Netanya, Bat Yam, North Tel Aviv, and Ramat Gan. Beginning at 6PM Thursday and extending to Friday, groups of protesters will stand outside supermarkets and urge shoppers not to buy cottage cheese or other dairy products that cost more than NIS 2.90, and to boycott cheese that is not under government price controls. The activists will also hand out bumper stickers and explanatory brochures.
