The Knesset has rejected the Law amendment proposal of MK Ya’acov Katz (Ketzaleh) that was meant to empower only the chief rabbinate to administer Kashrut certificates. Up to now, the High Court could compel a rabbi to certify as kosher even an establishment run by a Jew who converted to another religion. Despite the personal request of the chief rabbis, the proposal was rejected 36-4.
