The Knesset’s State Control Committee criticized on Monday the conduct of the Foreign Ministry in bringing the Falashmura Ethiopian Jews to Israel.

The delay in bringing the Falashmura to Israel is due to the fact that the Jewish Agency’s emissaries in the Ghondar transit camp have not been recognized as diplomats, since the Foreign Ministry has not yet arranged this with the Ethiopian government.

Committee chairman MK Yoel Hasson (Kadima) said that the Ministry “was not motivated” and that it had been negligent in its dealing with the issue. Hasson asked that the issue be resolved quickly and demanded that the Foreign Ministry inform the Committee within two weeks when the Ethiopian government will approve the request.
