Speaking at Monday night's rally protesting the arrests of Rabbi Dov Lior and Ya'akov Yosef over their approbations for Torat Hamelech, Rabbi Zalman Baruch Melamed, Rosh Yeshiva Hagvoha Yeshivat Beit El and Rabbi of the town of Beit El, said that “we have come to support Rabbi Lior and Rabbi Yosef for their fulfilling of a mitzvah, 'do not fear any man.' No man can harm the Torah and Torah scholars, and those who try to will never be cured of their ailments.
“We all agree that Israel is a state of laws – but the prosecution must also observe the law. This is what we have come to demand – that the prosecution should repent for questioning rabbis, and to undesand that the Torah is the true law. We have come to declare that we are loyal to the Torah and we would sacrifice our lives for it. sacrifice our lives for it. The day is coming when the judges of the High Court will be Torah scholars.”
