Palestinian Authority workers said, Sunday evening, that there will be serious discontent if the authority's financial situation deteriorates. The threat followed the announcement by PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad that the government had decided not to pay the employees their full salaries until the PA receives money from donor nations.

Addressing a news conference, Fayyad said the PA's monthly deficit was 30 million dollars due to promises of financial aid that had not been carried out. A worker interviewed by the PA's WAFA news agency said, "I'm desperate because of the situation. My [monthly] salary is not more than 2,500 shekels ($736) and to pay me half of that is a disgusting disgrace, although I understand the authority's situation."
