Arrest in Demonstration on Rabbi Yosef's Street

A demonstrator was arrested on disturbance charges Sunday afternoon during a gathering in support of Rabbi Ya'akov Yosef outside his home on Shmuel Hanavi Street in Jerusalem. Demonstrators gathered after the rabbi was detained Sunday morning for his halachic (Jewish law) endorsement of the book Torat Hamelech, which concerns Jewish law on the question of the priority of Jewish soldiers' lives versus killing of enemy civilians in time of war.

Police say demonstrators damaged a vehicle that got caught on the street and the driver apparently fled. Demonstrators moved to the sidewalks, police cleared the vehicle and traffic opened up in the area.
