The Spokesperson's Office of the Israel Defense Forces announced Sunday that there will be an approved, coordinated entry to Joseph's Tomb in the Palestinian Authority-assigned city of Shechem Sunday for Israelis who signed up in advance. The military and the Israel Police will provide security for the visit.
The IDF said that access will only be given to those with permits entering by bus from Tapuach Junction and others trying to reach the holy site from the intersection will be blocked. The announcement stressed that unauthorized attempts to enter the site will endanger the worshippers and divert security forces from their main job of protecting of area residents. It warned of prosecution for those who are caught.
