Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom said Wednesday that there is no connection between the Gaza flotilla and humanitarian aid.

Speaking at a benefit for the Wolfson Hospital in Holon, Shalom stressed that “the flotilla’s entire purpose is to harm Israel’s image. Israel is better prepared to deal with the flotilla”

He added that “There is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The economic growth is over 15%, 150 trucks loaded with goods enter Gaza daily, and Israel is prepared to let 230 trucks enter but the Palestinians choose not to use it.”
