Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu repeated his call to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, Tuesday morning, to recognize Israel as a Jewish state. Speaking to the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency, Netanyahu noted that he had gone on record for a PA state, but the Arabs "refuse to reconize the right of the Jewish people to exist."
The prime minister said the conflict could only be resolved by negotiation and not by force, adding that turning to the United Nations would not advance the cause of peace but set it back. He said that PA recognition of Israel would represent "giant progress toward peace".
