Rabbi Tuvia Halevi Schulzinger, a resident of the city of Kiryat Ata (near Haifa), said Monday that despite the fact that the city’s bylaws clearly state that non-kosher pork products may not be sold in the city, in reality there are at least ten stores throughout the city which sell pork.
Rabbi Schulzinger told Arutz Sheva’s Hebrew language news service that in one case, a store located on Kiryat Ata’s main street sells pork products in the guise of a newspaper stand. “Unfortunately the city is doing nothing about it,” he said, adding that a few weeks ago he sent a letter on the issue to the city’s mayor, but has not yet received a response.
