New information received by United States intelligence indicates that Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi is seriously considering leaving Tripoli for a more secure place outside the capital, according to a Thursday report by the Wall Street Journal. The move is being considered in the wake of attacks on Tripoli by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). It was reported Friday that a Tripoli underground was in contact with anti-government forces in other parts of the country.
The U.S. Congress is expected to vote on Friday in favor of a bill to stop funding of American military efforts in Libya, except those supporting NATO in the fields of intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, planning, and search and rescue.
