A representative of the State Comptroller's Office warned the Knesset Control Committee, on Tuesday, that ten years after the fatal 2001 cave-in at the Versailles banquet hall in Jerusalem, another 300 banquet halls face a similar danger. Testifying at a committee hearing on the lack of full implemenation of the Zeiler Committee report on the tragedy, Shmuel Golan said that follow-up monitoring of the Pal-Kal method used in the construction of the Versailles hall had not been completed.
Goland reported on indecisiveness as well as arguments about compensation and responsibility. He also said that bureacracy was responsible for delays in developing building regulations that still have to be completed.
