The annual meeting of the Governing Board of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) is scheduled to start Sunday evening in Jerusalem and run through Tuesday. The meeting will be attended by around 150 leaders representing the 92 WJC member communities and affiliated organizations.

Former Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo, a co-founder of the Friends of Israel Initiative, will address the opening dinner on Sunday, and former president of Uruguay Luis Alberto Lacalle will speak at a dinner on Monday celebrating the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the WJC. Also cheduled to address the board are President Shimon Peres, Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman and Opposition Leader Tzipi Livni. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was still to be confirmed as of Friday.

The agenda also includes the election of a new secretary-general to succeed Michael Schneider. The WJC Executive has unanimously nominated foreign policy expert Daniel Diker for the position. The congress will present a Torah scroll to the Israel Defense Forces Monday at the Western Wall of the Temple.
