At least 16 Libyan rebels were wounded Friday in an attack by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on their position 30 kilometers/19miles northwest of the eastern city of Ajbayah, according to Reuters. No other details were available.
The attack followed a statement Thursday evening by Said Al-Islam Qaddafi to an Italian newspaper that his father, Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi, was ready to hold free elections and leave his position if he loses.
Spain informed Libya's ambassador Thursday evening that he and three members of his staff have 10 days to leave the country. The Spanish foreign ministry said the Qaddafi government had lost all legitimacy because of its continued suppression of the Libyan population.
