The IDF and Shabak released for publication Monday the arrest of Ayoub Azzam Ahmed Abu Kareim, a Hamas terrorist responsible for dozens of terrorist attacks.  Abu Kareim, 22, is a resident of Gaza, and admitted his involvement in numerous terrorist attacks under questioning, including an attempt to assassinate Defense Minister Ehud Barak three years ago as he was traveling near Kibbutz Miflasim.

Abu Kareim told investigators he that he was one of the pioneer members of the Al-Aqsa Brigades, a terror group affiliated with Hamas. He said that the group had been set up in order to allow Hamas to act independently against Israel on a separate front, while the Brigades carried out their own attacks. He was indicted a week ago, officials said.
