Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu (Likud) is scheduled to leave for Italy Sunday morning, his first stop in a round of visits to European Union countries, in an attempt to convince EU member countries to oppose a unilateral Palestinian Authority statehood declaration at the United Nations General Assembly in September.
Netanyahu is also scheduled to visit Romania, Poland, and Hungary. In Italy, he will meet with counterpart Silvio Berlusconi.
