The blind athletes of Israel's paralympic team drubbed a team of Knesset members Monday in the game of goalball as part of the Knesset's observance of "Blind Day" in solidarity with Israel's blind and visually-impaired community. Knesset member Uri Ariel, who organized the event, was joined by MKs Eitan Cabel, Ilan Gilon, Tzipi Hotovely, Orli Levi and Lia Shemtov. Ariel said after the game that while it was important to show solidarity, the MK's came to win and will do what they can for a better result the next time.
The 65-year-old game consists of two teams trying to throw a ball past each other. Players follow the ball by listening to bells imbedded in the ball. Blindfolds are used to allow sighted and partially sighted players to play on equal terms.
