The Parents' Forum of the National Religious School System, made up of parents who are members of parent councils in schools around the country, praised the Education Ministry for changing the school schedule and moving the opening of the upcoming school year ahead by a week. With that, the group said, they would prefer if the Ministry would consult with parents' groups like theirs when making important decisions.
“We see this change as a way to move to a discussion of the way vacation days are allocated throughout the school year, and perhaps tailoring them to be more in line with the Jewish calendar,” the group said in a letter to Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar. “With that, we see it as a necessity for parents to be involved in these changes. We call on the Ministry to institutionalize the participation of parents' groups in the decision-making process,” the letter said.
