Peres to Medvedev: Don't Sell Weapons to Syria

President Shimon Peres asked his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday to refrain from selling modern and advanced weapons systems to Syria, in light of the uncertainty in the country.

The two met in Rome for the celebrations marking 150 years of Italian unification. Peres told Medvedev, “It is impossible to know who in the end will hold the weapons and they should be prevented from reaching Hizbullah and other terrorist organizations.”

Peres added that “Assad has murdered thousands of innocent protesters in cold blood, and I do not know what the future holds.”
