Following Tuesday’s announcement that the summer vacation in Israel will end earlier, Elchanan Glatt, Director General of Yeshivot Bnei Akiva, called on Education Minister Gideon Saar to synchronize the summer vacation with the Jewish calendar.
“I welcome the Education Minister’s decision to shorten the summer break and I call on him to have the school year begin every year on Rosh Chodesh Elul,” Glatt said.
“It is important to make more time available to study about the holidays and increase the state’s Jewish identity,” explained Glatt. “The holidays belong to all of us and the Hebrew calendar belongs to the entire people of Israel.”
