At a meeting of the Knesset Interior Committee, MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union) said that large areas of municipal Jerusalem that were outside the security fence had turn into a no-man's land for law enforcement and Israeli sovereignty. “Police do not enforce the law in these neighborhoods, and actually avoid entering them,” he said.
“Israeli sovereignty is continuously violated by activities of the Palestinian Authority and international organizations that fund activities in these areas. Israel must work to ensure its sovereignty and instruct police to enforce the law at it does in the rest of Jerusalem. And the government must make clear to the PA that operating in these areas is a violation of agreements it has signed,” Eldad said.
