A representative of the family of missing South African photographer Anton Hammerl said Friday morning that the family believes Hammerl has died as a result of wounds suffered at the hands of forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi in a remote part of Libya on April 5th.
The family based its fears on eyewitnesses who said Hammerl was shot during a battle in the desert and that it was reasonable to assume he did not survive due to the lack of medical resources there.
