    Arabs Massing on Lebanese Border

Thousands of people were reported to have massed on the Lebanese side of the border, opposite the town of Avivim, as they prepare to hold a major anti-Israel demonstration. The demonstrators are holding Fatah and Hamas flags, demanding that refugees return to the lands and homes that were abandoned by previous generations of Arabs who fled when the State of Israel was established. The Lebanese army reportedly fired shots in the air to prevent a massing of demonstrators directly on the border, out of fear that the mob may try to enter Israel. They were driven several hundred meters back from the border.

In Ramallah, several thousand Arabs were gathered to protest Israel's existence as well. In imitation of the custom in Israel, a siren was sounded for a moment of silence, in which Arabs in Ramallah mourned the establishment of the State of Israel.
