Officials and media in Iran criticized Israel over the controversy that erupted when former Mossad intelligence chief Meir Dagan said it would be stupid to attempt an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, according to a survey by the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center (ITIC).

Spokesman  Ramin Mehmanparast of the Iranian Foreign Ministry told reporters at his weekly news conference that the "Zionist confession" of their stupid ideas was "noteworthy". The conservative Kayhan daily said the controversy in Israel projected "helplessness and confusion", adding that Dagan's comments aroused more despair than in the past, accusing Dagan of being behind a number of activities. The activities included the elimination of senior Hizbullah terrorist Imad Mughniyeh, the deaths of a number of Iranian nuclear scientists and launching of the Stuxnet virus on the computers of Iran's nuclear facilities.
