Israeli high school students won a gold, a silver, two bronze medals and two honorable mentions at the just-concluded 12th Asian Physics Olympiad at Tel Aviv University. Also getting six citations were Russia and Hong Kong. Leading the medal and honorable mention counts were China and Taiwan with eight, followed by Singapore and Thailand with seven.
This year's event was the first Asian Physics Olympiad to be held in Israel. Asian Physics Olympiad Secretariat President Prof. Ming-Juey Lin said that this year's competition was, "the most successful Asian Physics Olympiad that has been held to date."
