There will be no entry fee to a remembrance ceremony for IDF soldiers on Memorial Day in Jerusalem. After a public outcry on plans by the Jerusalem municipality to charge for the event, the city backed down, and refunds will be issued to those who paid in advance.

The event called “Remembering, Singing, and Telling,” is to be attended by top artists and officials. A number of artists, as well as Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar, said they would boycott the event if there was a charge. Organizers said they needed to charge some NIS 50 per ticket in order to ensure high standards of production. The municipality said that it would now pick up the bill.
