Speaking Thursday, Gamal Mubarak, son of deposed Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak, said that his father did not order the army to open fire on demonstrators in Tahrir Square, as reports in the country's media said. The report quoted court officials as saying that the elder Mubarak ordered Egypt's former Interior Minister, Habib al-Adali, to shoot at demonstrators.

Gamal Mubarak said that the case was exactly the opposite – that his father had ordered al-Adali to treat the demonstrators gently.
