The IHH, the group that sponsored the flotilla to Gaza last May, has delivered 682 tons of supplies to rebels in Libya, and is set to dispatch a mobile hospital to the rebel stronghold of Misrata, the group said in a statement. “We want aid transported by this ship to be sent to the Libyan people, who have been struck by both the Libyan administration and NATO forces, [which intend to] conquer the Islamic world,” İHH Chairman Bülent Yildırım said in a press conference before the dispatch of the ship last week. “The aid will be distributed directly to the people. We do not want the aid to be perceived as political,” he added.
The IHH is planning a repeat of its Gaza flotilla during the coming weeks, the organization announced several weeks ago.
