Former Egyptian energy minister Samach Fahmi and seven former members of the country's oil council were arrested Thursday evening on suspicion of wasting public money and harming the interest of the state, following a deal to sell natural gas to Israel.
According to the general prosecutor, the price charged Israel was below the market price, which resulted in the loss of millions of shekels for Egypt.
