Former Ivory Coast President, Laurent Gbagbo, who was arrested on Monday after having refused to give up power despite having lost the elections, was released from prison on Tuesday and placed under house arrest.
The news of Gbagbo’s release and house arrest was confirmed by a spokesman for the country’s new president, Alassane Ouattara.
