Vered Hulda-Gurevich and Eli Alaluf were named Monday as recipients of this year's Israel Prize for Life Achievements, to be given out on Israel Independence Day next month. In a statement, the awards committee said it had chosen Hulda-Gurevich, a longtime volunteer at Rambam Hospital in Haifa, because she had “dedicated her life to voluntarism,” and Alaluf, chairman of the Rashi Fund, for “his unceasing struggle for justice and progress in Israel's periphery.”
