The Israel Defense Forces website reported on Sunday that 121 building projects for Gaza have been approved by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Arab Territories (COGAT). Construction has already begun on 800 housing units for Rafah, Khan-Yunis and Gaza City. Thirty-three projects are connected to educational infrastructure, including 20 schools to be run by the United Nations Works and Relief Agency, and 14 projects are intended to improve the health infrastructure. There are 28 water projects and two electricity projects. Also included are a thousand agricultural farms with advanced technology.
The Gaza economy is expected to improve and a number of the projects are seen as lasting years. International bodies will join COGATin making sure that the tons of cement dictated by the projects are not turned into bunkers or other military uses.
