Despite mass desertions by army officers and the resignation of many members of the country's international diplomatic staff, Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh said that he believed that the majority of the country's citizens supported him. Saleh said that he planned on remaining in office, and that his forces would “do whatever was necessary to defend the constitution.”
Yemen opposition leaders have called for a “day of rage” this Wednesday, Arab media reported Monday.
