Reports from the Syrian city of Daraa Monday said that protesters had knocked down a statue of former Syrian President Hafez al-Assad. In addition, protesters set fire to the home of a local governor, the head of the local branch of the Ba'ath party, and a government cultural center.
Syrian tanks are reported to be in the area in order to deal with the riots and protests that have been going on in the city since last Thursday.
