Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh proposed on Thursday drawing up a new constitution that would guarantee the separation of legislative and executive power, and ensure that the parliament was the supreme lawmaker for the country. Saleh spoke to thousands of supporters in Yemen's capital Sa'ana on Thursday morning, while protests against his government continued throughout the country.
Opposition leader Yassin Said Numan dismissed the offer, saying that it had come too late. However, he said, opposition parties would “study the offer.”
