Groups Slam PM's Building Committee Plan

The Society for the Protection of Nature, along with the Committee for Proper Planning slammed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyhu's plans to establish a “quick action” committee to override the bureaucracy involved in building a home. In a statement, the groups said that instead of the establishment of such a committee, it would be preferable to use existing plans, which could yield as much as 200,000 new apartments.

“We remember the destructive effects of these committees from the 1990s,” the groups said, adding that “some residents of Israel are still feeling the effects of those committee's actions.”
