A 15 year old youth was arrested Monday night after police accused him of burning tires at the Shilo Junction, the Honenu legal rights group said. The youth was participating in a demonstration against last week's shooting by security forces against protesters at Gilad Farm (Havat Gilad). Honenu said that the youth was standing at the side of the road.
The group said that border police officers went to the youth and accused him of burning the tires, but the youth denied the charges. Police refused to accept his denial, claiming that his hands smelled of gasoline, and that he had a lighter. The youth denied the first charge but confirmed his possession of a lighter, which he used to smoke. Based on his possession of the lighter, police arrested him, Honenu said.
