Minister of Public Security Yitzhak Aharonovitch defended Monday's incident at the Gilad Farm in which riot police opened fire at farmers during a 4:30 am raid. Aharonovitch said the acts were done with prudence and authority. He stated the shooting was “carefully measured and in accordance with the guidance of the unit commander." He further stated that the bullets used were not rubber bullets but pneumatic bullets, or dye bullets. He added that he fully backs up the police in their task to enforce the law. Aharonovitch said the shooting, like all such incident will be investigated. Authorities accused the farmers of building two houses and a tent which were not legally sanctioned.
