Michael Eitan, the Minister for Improvement of Government Services, called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday to call an urgent meeting of the Ministerial Committee on Biometrical Applications in order to prevent a pilot test of a biometric data base in its proposed form. Eitan led the fight against biometric data bases in the Knesset.

In a letter to Netanyahu, Eitan wrote that the Justice Ministry's Authority for Technology and Science Law issued an opinion showing legal and professional difficulties in carrying out the pilot program. In addition, an alternative which could have received broader support was removed from consideration.
