Valuable Judaica that had been stolen from a synagogue in Milan has been returned to that city, three weeks after the gang that was responsible for the theft was apprehended. The items, which were in the custody of Tel Aviv police, were returned to the congregation on Friday. Members of the Milan Jewish community said they never expected to see the items again.
The items included a number of ritual objects dating to the 15th and 16th centuries, a golden key for the synagogue's Holy Ark, and a crown for a Torah. The items were valued at over one million euros, and police said it was the largest theft of Judaica items in recent years.
