The Knesset Economics Committee on Tuesday authorized new measures that will prevent the importing of energy-inefficient appliances into Israel. Among the products to be banned will be several models of TV sets, computers, certain light bulbs, and devices whose screen remains active even when they are turned off.
The import of the items will be banned beginning in September, the committee said. The changes are part of the government's efforts to reduce the amount of electricity by 20% by 2020.
