Obama: Iranians Should Take Example from Egypt

At a press conference Tuesday, U.S. President Barack H. Obama praised the revolution in Egypt, and the way the military was handling the transition to a democratically elected government. "The world is changing," Obama said. "You have a young, vibrant generation within the Middle East that is looking for greater opportunity. ... You've got to get out ahead of change; you can't be behind the curve."

Obama added that he hoped the Iranian people would follow Egypt's example. The U.S. hopes and expects, he said, “to continue to see the people of Iran have the courage to be able to express their yearning for greater freedom and a more representative government."
