After Jordan's King Abdullah announced on Tuesday afternoon that he was appointing Maruf Bakhit as the country's new prime minister, the country's Muslim Brotherhood-associated organization issued a statement saying that Bakhit was not an acceptable candidate. “Bakhit is not a reformer and he is not fit to lead the country in a manner that will end the crisis,” the Islamic Action Front said in a statement.

Earlier, Abdullah's office said that he had fired former Prime Minister Samir a-Rifa'i, and appointed  Bakhit in his place. In a statement, Hussein's office said that Bakhit has been ordered to carry out “true political reforms.”
