Chairman Carmel Shama Hacohen of the Knesset Economics Committee introduced a bill on Monday that would ban communications with with the Iranian government or parties who deal with the government. The bill is part of the international effort against the Teheran government's nuclear development program, which threatens Israel.
Violation of the law would result in a year in prison or a fine of 5,000 shekels or three times the profit expected as a result of the banned communication, whichever is bigger. Under the bill, companies dealing with Iran would not be allowed to drill in strategic Israeli oil fields.
