Sources in the Hamas-controlled Gaza region claimed Saturday that one person was killed and two others wounded as a result of an explosion in Gaza City's Zeitun neighborhood. According to some reports, the three were hit by Israeli artillery fire, but other reports say the explosion was caused by a dud found by the Gazans as they were collecting gravel.

The IDF said it had not launched an attack on Gaza and estimated that the explosion occurred during a failed attempt to launch a rocket at the Western Negev region. The blast victims were reportedly members of the Islamic Jihad organization.
