Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu placed a telephone call to President Shimon Peres Thursday afternoon to express his condolences over the passing of Peres's wife Sonia.

Netanyahu told the president, "In her modest and quiet life, Sonia personified kindness and became a symbol and example of modesty and love of her fellow human being."
