Israel Radio has reported that Chief Palestinian Authority Negotiator Saeb Erekat is denying an earlier report in which he was quoted as saying that the PA plans on requesting unilateral recognition from the United Nations Security Council for a PA-run state along the 1949 Armistice Lines.

Erekat said that the PA has no intention of presenting such a proposal in the near future and that the earlier report by the Bethlehem-based news agency Ma'an was erroneous.
